Heavenly Father,
We come to you today feeling a little battle-worn. We started out with such good intentions – to truly make a difference in our world, to pour out Your love onto others, to be shining examples of Your goodness. Yet, as time wears on, discouragement starts to seep in.
It's easy to become weary, Lord. We don't always see immediate results from our efforts. The kindness we extend may be met with indifference. The injustice we fight against feels like an immovable giant. The seeds of good we try to sow sometimes seem to fall on hard, unyielding ground. It's tempting to question whether it's all worth it.
Forgive our impatience, our limited perspective, and our tendency to want to see instant gratification for our efforts. Sometimes the harvest You have in mind for us is beyond our current vision. You work on an eternal timeline, while we get caught up in the immediate.
Help us not to focus on the size of the immediate harvest but on the faithfulness of the sowing. Teach us the quiet perseverance that keeps showing up, keeps loving, and keeps serving even when we don't feel like it, even when we can't yet see the fruits of our labor.
When the temptation to quit arises, flood our hearts with a fresh reminder of Your promises. Show us glimpses of the eternal impact our simple acts of obedience can have – the ripple effects we may never even be aware of in this lifetime.
Sometimes the harvest is in our own hearts, as we become more compassionate, more patient, and more resilient. The act of doing good isn't just for the benefit of others, but it transforms us to become more like You.
Give us strength for the long haul, dear Father. Keep our eyes fixed on You, the source of our hope and motivation. May we never tire of loving others the way You have tirelessly and unconditionally loved us. Help us not to focus on our weariness but instead on Your inexhaustible power that works within us.
We trust, even when we can't see, that our labor is not in vain. When we want to give up, may Your Spirit give us an extra push forward. Help us to fix our eyes on the eternal harvest to come and let that future hope spur us on today.
